Erik, a junior at Oak Park High, broke a 53-year-old national high school record when he kicked a 64-yard field goal in the Eagles' 14-10 loss to Carpinteria High. The old record of 62 yards was set by Kelly Imhoff of Kent, Wash, in 1929.

PORT ORCHARD, WASH.
Karla, 11, and her 5-year-old gelding Jester-Three-Bars won four 12-and-under titles at the National Appaloosa Horse Show in Louisville. Her 74 points were the most scored at the nationals in 35 years and she scored in the top 10 in 11 of 12 events.

Tony, 13, a pitcher and first baseman, and Corey, 11, a catcher, led Thibodaux's Dixie Youth League all-star team to first place in the district championships. Tony, who hit .667 during the regular season, blasted seven playoff home runs, including four straight in one game, and knocked in 13 runs, while Corey, who batted .677 in league play, hit six homers in the playoffs. Tony batted .694 and Corey .394 in the championships, as Dixie scored 119 runs

PORTAGE, WIS.
Lobenstein, 18, now an Iowa State freshman, was team MVP on the Turner High School girls' state-title-winning volleyball and basketball squads. Named "Miss Basketball" in Wisconsin, her teams had a three-year regular-season record of 96-0.

ORLANDO, FLA.
Boyette, 54, a retired Navy lieutenant commander, water-skied to his seventh national barefoot title in four years when he won the veteran men's trick division in Florida with a record-setting 560 points, 70 more than the old mark.
