Tiffany, 15, the youngest member of the U.S. figure skating team, finished in ninth place among women at the world championships in Helsinki after placing third at the nationals. Her routine includes a triple Salchow and a triple toe loop.

Thomas and Rodney, eighth-graders at the Rut-ledge School, led the Rams to league titles in basketball and football. A 6'3½" forward and defensive and offensive end, Thomas topped the 27-0 basketball team in scoring (15 points a game), rebounding (11) and field-goal shooting (51%). He scored 13 touchdowns for the 6-1 football squad, 10 on passes from Rodney, the quarterback. In basketball Point Guard/Forward Rodney, 6'1", averaged 14 points and eight rebounds.

Running, 36, a chemistry teacher at Brophy Prep, has coached the Bronco tennis varsity to five state Class AAA titles and a 12-year regular-season record of 180-0 in dual meets. His JV and freshmen teams have a combined record of 264-1.

Chris, a senior at Lake Forest (Ill.) College, and his sister, Allison, a sophomore at Memphis State, won the men's and women's titles at the National Intercollegiate Handball Championships in Chicago. Chris has racked up eight national titles, including a share of this year's doubles crown. Allison has won 10. Brother Vern Jr., 28, is the No. 3-ranked pro in the U.S., and another brother, Jack, 25, was a national doubles champ in 1982. Their father, Vern Sr., 57, won a national doubles title in 1978.
