Barrett, 94, a Methodist minister, ran a U.S. 90-to-94 age-group record 35.75 in the 100-meter dash to win his class at the Illinois Senior Olympics. The previous mark was 54.7. He took up running in 1983 after having dropped the sport in '13.
Francie, a senior, and Judi, a sophomore, who are sisters and members of the Catalina High girls' swimming team, combined to win three events and finish second in two others at the state Class AAA meet. Francie won the 100-and 200-meter free-styles in 51.40 and 1:50.08, respectively, and was named to the All-America team. Judi triumphed in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.38 and finished second in the 200 IM. Catalina's 200 medley relay team, of which the O'Learys are members, came in second.
Lynda, a senior at Ballou High, ran one of the fastest girls' scholastic 55-meter indoor hurdles in the nation this year, a 7.93. Only five high school girls have run faster. She also competes in the long jump (PR: 19'4") and 100 hurdles (13.6).

Clifford, 7, won the bantam division of the Junior Orange Bowl Bowling Tournament by beating Ernie Brown of Miami 150-75 in the final. He was high qualifier for his division with a four-game average of 167. He usually averages 90 pins.
Roderick, a 6'2" senior guard on the Westside High basketball team, averaged 36.3 points per game this season and won the state scoring title for the third year in a row. He had 50-, 48- and 47-point games this season for the Wildcats.
