Richard, 18, broke his own state powerlifting records in eight events in the teenagers' and men's divisions at 114 pounds. Among his lifts were a 248-pound bench press, a 281-pound squat and a 397-pound dead lift for a 926-pound total.
Rebekah, a sophomore at Randolph School, set three state Class 2A records and shared another at the state Class A-2A meet. She won the 800 meters (in 2:28.1), 1,600 (5:36.0) and the 3,200 (12:39.0) and anchored the 3,200 relay (10:29.7).
Kaiser, 22, placed first in the 300-and 5,000-meter events to win the National Roller Speed Skating banked track overall championship. He also was the first American to win the world overall road racing title, contested since 1937.

Steve, a 6'6" senior center, scored 23 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Wheatley High to a win over Rochester Wilson Magnet for the state Class C public high championship, 68-55. His 329 rebounds in 26 games broke the school record.

Karen, a sophomore sweeper, and Lisa, a junior goalie, led Lyman High to the girls' state soccer championship and a 24-0 record. In the semifinal match, Karen scored on a 37-yard free kick as the Lady Greyhounds beat Coral Springs 4-3. Lisa, who has been Lyman's goalie since the school's program began three years ago, had nine saves in the 3-2 final victory over South Plantation. The team allowed an average of only .83 goals per game this season.
