WAGERS OF SWIM

EDITED BY Craig Neff

In anticipation of last week's Domino's Pizza TeamTennis playoff
match between the San Antonio Racquets and the Corpus Christi
Advantage, Corpus Christi Mayor Luther Jones made a little
proposition to his San Antonio counterpart, Henry Cisneros. ''If
Corpus Christi wins, you have to swim across Corpus Christi Bay,''
said Jones. ''If San Antonio wins, I'll swim the San Antonio
River.''
Cisneros wasn't much interested, and with very good reason: Corpus
Christi Bay ranges from 3 to 10 miles across. The San Antonio River
is, in parts, just 20 feet wide and 4 feet deep.
