Hickey, 61, a retired musician and music teacher, won the 60-and-over age group during the Georgia Triathlon Series with a victory in the Great Race, in Callaway Gardens. He swam 2 kilometers, biked 55 kilometers and ran 15 kilometers in 4:11:18.
Guthrie, 52, a housewife, shot a final-round 76 for a 54-hole total of 225 to win her second USGA senior women's amateur title in three years, at Point Clear, Ala. Guthrie, who first won in 1984, beat three other golfers by six strokes.
Philip, a senior at Huffman High, set a national high school record for career field goals (37) when he kicked three in a 24-22 loss to Sidney Lanier High on Oct. 4. He is also the team's leading pass receiver with 179 yards and one touchdown.

Banachowski, 41, coach of the women's volleyball team at UCLA, became the third Division I coach ever to win 500 matches when the Bruins beat Texas on Sept. 27. In 20 years at UCLA, Banachowski is 505-121, with four national titles.
Linda, 38, who with her husband, Bill, runs a bowling center, and Me'Chell, 17, a senior at Syracuse High, won the major division championship of the Avco National Family Bowling tournament in Alexandria, Va. The Thomeczeks, the only mother-daughter team to ever win the title, defeated 37 other teams, including 22 father-son pairs. In the championship match they edged the father-son team of Mark and Jackson Go of Stockton, Calif., 407-404.
