Andy, a senior on the Westlake High football team, kicked five field goals (including a 40-yarder) in a 15-0 victory over Lanier High of Austin. The five FGs tied a national high school single-game record held by several other athletes.

Solis, 18, a sophomore setter for the Miami-Dade South volleyball team, was named the tournament MVP for leading the Jaguars to a win over Eastern Arizona, in the national junior college championship final in Miami.

Lee, a junior running back for Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., was the first player from a Canadian school to be named NAIA player of the week when he rushed for 308 yards and scored five TDs in a win over Whitworth College.

BRIGITTE SPARLIN
ALBUQUERQUE
Brigitte, who is a senior forward on the Eldorado High soccer team, led the Eagles to the state title and a 17-0 record. She scored a state-high 41 goals, one of which was the game-winner in the 1-0 championship victory over Los Alamos.

Carter, 16, won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:40.31 and the 100 backstroke in 52.40 at the state championships. His 45.03 lead-off split in the 4 X 100 freestyle relay broke the state 100-free record of 45.29 set by Eric Finical of Tucson High.

ALBERT CITY, IOWA
Demers, a 5'5" senior basketball guard at Buena Vista College, broke the NCAA Division III women's career scoring record of 2,357 points held by Maureen Burchill of Southern Maine. Demers has 2,439 points, with 22 games left.
