Deollo, a six-foot center for Volney Rogers Junior High, scored all of the Vikings' points in a 33-29 victory over Frank Ohl at the Austintown Fitch Invitational eighth-grade basketball tournament. He averaged 26.5 points for the 11-game season.

Otis, a junior at Hilton Head High, became the first South Carolinian to hold state titles in both track and wrestling when, on Feb. 21, he won the 145-pound Class AAA wrestling title. Last spring he won the AA 800 meters with a time of 1:58.1.
Ivers, 76, set a world indoor 200-meter-dash record for the 75-79-year-old age group, at the Demers Track "Glassic" in Lewiston, Maine. His time of 33.1 seconds trimmed 1.2 off the record held by Byron Fike of Tallmadge, Ohio.
Toussaint, a 20-year-old boat operator, caught a 343-pound, 3-ounce yellowfin tuna at Roca Partida, Baja California, to set a world record for 130-pound-test line. The catch broke Ralph Mikkelsen's 1981 mark of 333 pounds, 8 ounces.
Brown, a senior, scored 60 points as Long Beach State beat San Jose State 149-69, a win in which NCAA women's basketball individual and team scoring records were set. Drake's Lorri Bauman (58) and Grambling (139) held the old records.
