Benham, an 80-year-old retired jockey who started his running career eight years ago, set an age-group world record in the 10,000 meters at the Senior Olympics in Towson, Md. He ran the distance in 44:20, 5:02 faster than the old mark.
Casandra, 12, swam 200 meters in 2:36, biked 10 kilometers in 18:45 and ran 2 kilometers in 7:31 to win her third straight title at the Rainbo Iron-kids Triathlon, in Phoenix. Her overall time of 28:32 broke her own record by 1:13.
Scott, a senior place-kicker at Castle High, tied the state record for field goals in a game by kicking four in a 26-6 victory over Boonville High. His longest, a 51-yarder, broke the school record, set in 1975, by nine yards.
Brandy, a sophomore at Oswego High, won seven gold medals and set five national swimming records for her 13-to-14 age group in freestyle, backstroke and medley events at the USA-AAU Junior Olympic Games in Syracuse.

Petrovic, a University of Hartford senior, broke the 37-year-old Yale Golf Course record by one stroke with a six-under-par 64 at the Yale Men's Fall Invitational. His 54-hole total of 208 was a record 20 strokes ahead of the runner-up.
Paige, 9, had a 12-0 record in 14 starts as a softball pitcher for the Lincoln Lassies of the Eastern Iowa League. In 64 innings she threw nine no-hitters, struck out 182 of 282 batters and had a 0.00 ERA. She also batted .512 for the season.
