Steven, a senior tailback, set a state record for career touchdowns with 90 to lead Pike County High to its second straight Class 4A title. He broke the old mark of 85 with the first of five TDs against Southside-Selma in the state playoffs.
Curran, 59, coached his 600th basketball victory at Archbishop Molloy High, as the Stanners defeated St. John's Prep 65-43. Curran, whose record is 603-183 over 32 seasons, is now the second-winningest coach in state history.
Rachel, a senior forward, scored a state girls' record 86 points for Moss High in a 105-87 defeat of Dustin High. Ten days later she got 59 in a 99-51 win over Wetumka High to break the state girls' career scoring record of 4,499.

Melody, a junior at Boulder High, and Bryan, a senior at Agoura High, won the girls' and boys' divisions, respectively, at the Kinney national high school cross-country meet. Melody ran a 17:05.5, the sixth-fastest girls' time ever on the 3.1-mile course, to finish 7.2 seconds ahead of Megan Thompson of Hazelwood Central High in Florissant, Mo. On the same course Bryan, who ran a 14:49.9, finished 11 seconds in front of Andy Maris of White River High in Buckley, Wash.
