A BAD YEAR FOR CANADA. IN THE BATTLE OF THE BRIANS AT THE Calgary
Olympics, U.S. figure skating champ Brian Boitano outpointed Canada's
Brian Orser for the gold medal. At the Seoul Games, Ben Johnson of
Canada tested positive for steroids and was stripped of the gold
medal he had won in the 100. The gray pall over Edmonton was smoke
rising from the burning effigies of Oiler owner Peter Pocklington,
who had traded superstar Wayne Gretzky to L.A. Mike Tyson took 91
seconds to whup Michael Spinks.
