Heidi, 12, set a world record in the women's eight-pound-test-line class when she landed a 34-pound African pompano off the coast of Miami. She is also the first junior (10-14 years old) to win the Metropolitan South Florida fishing tournament.

Che, a 6'3" senior running back at Edmond High, rushed 27 times for 339 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 42-27 victory over Moore High. In five games this season, he has run for 1,128 yards and nine touchdowns.

JOAN RIZER
BARDSTOWN, KY.
Rizer, 37, a golf-shop clerk, beat Kim Tyrer 2 and 1 in the match-play final to win her third consecutive Kentucky Women's State Amateur title, at Madisonville Country Club. Rizer, a three handicapper, also made the national links quarterfinals.

DAVE WEISS
EAU CLAIRE, WIS.
Weiss, 60, a dentist, defeated Richard Fee of Keyesport, Ill., by 3.57 seconds to win the men's veterans' solo canoe competition at the U.S. Canoe Association's national championship. This was the second solo event of Weiss's two-year career.

Darci, 15, a shortstop-second baseman for the Los Angeles entry in the North American Maccabean Youth Games girls' softball competition, batted .615 with two home runs and 12 RBIs in 13 at bats to help her team go 6-0 and win the gold medal.

KEVIN BRINKWORTH
BUFFALO
Kevin, 17, defeated Brian Wallis-Keck of Brecksville, Ohio, 4-1, to win the 220-pound Greco-Roman title at the U.S. Junior National wrestling tournament. He also placed first in freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions at the Empire State Games.
