Suzie, a sophomore at Mandan High, got four wins in leading the Braves to their second straight state high school girls' swimming title. She was the 200-meter freestyle (1:56.39) and the 500 free (5:13.70) champ and anchored two winning relays.

NAPERVILLE, ILL,
Varrato, a senior goalie for the Elizabethtown (Pa.) College soccer team, became the national-record holder for college-career shutouts, with 48, by defeating Drew University 1-0. It was Varrato's fifth shutout in a row. He had 17 in 25 games this year.

ANNE CLARKE
CAROL STREAM, ILL.
Clarke, 81, an aerobics and fitness teacher at two retirement homes and at the local YWCA, ran her sixth Chicago Marathon in 5:46 to place first in the 70-and-over age group. Clarke, who took up running at age 64, trains 30 hours a week.

Poole, 39, a mechanic, set a stale record by bowling an 889 series during which he rolled back-to-back 300s. I le made 34 strikes with the 35 balls he bowled during the three-game series. In 14 years of bowling he had never had a perfect game.

ANN ARBOR, MICH.
Stacey, a senior at Huron High, won her third girls' state tennis doubles championship. Stacey, a doubles specialist who finished with a 67-0 career record, is believed to be the only Michigan girl to go undefeated in high school play for three years.

Mike, a sophomore halfback at Brophy College Prep, rushed for 310 yards and scored three times on runs of 90, 74 and 74 yards in a 36-32 state playoff quarterfinal loss to Tucson's Amphitheater High. On the year, he ran for 1,473 yards.
