Michelle, a senior soccer goalie at Franklin High, allowed only 14 goals in 54 games as a starter during her four years on the varsity. She had 41 shutouts as she led the Lady Rebels to a record of 68-2-2 and three girls' state championships.

Jamal, a junior at Belvidere High, rushed for 370 yards on 21 carries and scored six touchdowns in a 56-28 win over Pius X High. For the season, he ran for 1,691 yards and 21 TDs in leading Belvidere to an 8-1-1 record and the Skyland Conference title.

Vickers, 57, won 11 over-50 age-group gold medals at the World Senior Games: five in swimming (50-and 100-meter breast-stroke, 50 and 100 backstroke, 50 freestyle), three in racket sports and three in field events (javelin and high and long jumps).
Patrick, a Lewiston High junior, won the state Class A cross-country title and ran his high school season record to 16-0 by covering a 3.1-mile course in 16:02. He then placed first in the 15-16 age group at the TAC regional (16:50 for 3.2 miles).
Blair, a freshman at Terry Sanford High, had a 30-0 singles-match record in her first year of varsity tennis. The only set she lost all year came in the state quarterfinals. She won the state title by beating Jenny Sopel of Myers Park High 6-1,6-0.
Perkins, a sophomore guard at Villa Maria College in Cheektowaga. N.Y., set a National Junior College Athletic Association record with 17 three-point baskets (in 40 tries) during a 118-73 win over Jamestown (N.Y.) Community College.
