Angie and Iris, both seniors at Marion High, led the Warriors to girls' state titles in cross-country and volleyball on the same day. Iris, who ran a 12:50 over the 2½-mile Tuttle Creek Reservoir course in Manhattan, Kans., and Angie, whose time was 13:09, finished 10th and 24th in pacing the Warrior girls to their first cross-country crown. Later that day, Angie and Iris starred as Marion beat Jefferson County North High 15-6, 17-15 in the volleyball finals.

Clint Lassiter
SMYRNA, GA.
Clint, 11, a pitcher for the Sox in the Smyrna Little League, struck out 17 of the 20 batters he faced as he led his team to a 5-1 win over the Dawgs in the fall-season title game. He fanned 95 batters and was 7-0 on the season.

LOS ANGELES
Ward, a senior wide receiver at Cal State-Northridge, threw for two touchdowns in a 55-12 loss to Sacramento State, which gave him seven completions for TDs in eight passing attempts this season.

Elizabeth Tily
WYNNEWOOD, PA.
Elizabeth, 15, won the all-around gold at the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships. She came out on top on the balance beam and finished in the top 10 in the uneven bars, the vault and the floor exercise.

Harry Embree
DERBY, N.Y.
Embree, 68, won the world and the grand national championships in the English pleasure division at the Morgan Horse Show in Oklahoma City. Riding bay gelding Fine Art, he become the oldest world titlist ever.
