Sean and Mark, juniors at Providence Classical, were the top two high school hammer throwers in the country this year. Mark (212'9") edged out his brother, Sean (211'8"), in throwing the 12-pound high school hammer. At the TAC/USA Junior National Track and Field Championships, Mark outdistanced Sean by seven inches in heaving the 16-pound hammer 177'0". The throws qualified both brothers for the World Junior Championship team.

Zahir, 15, won a Junior Olympic boxing title for the second straight year and extended his record to 50-0 when he beat Antone Pina, 15, of New Bedford, Mass., for the 85-pound crown. In 1991 he won the 80-pound title.

Ardeth Mueller
ST. LOUIS
Mueller, 51, won five events and set three U.S. records in the 50-54 age group at the World Masters Swim Meet. The marks were in the 50-meter free (30.04), the 100 free (1:07.42) and the 400 IM (6:12.08).

A.J. Hinch
MIDWEST CITY, OKLA.
A.J., a senior catcher and the valedictorian at Midwest City High, was named Gatorade National Player of the Year after hitting .476 with 43 runs batted in and 39 stolen bases, while making only four errors.
