Swimming Cassidy, a senior at Satellite High, was named Florida's girl swimmer of the year after setting a U.S. high school record in the 100-yard freestyle (49.37). She won Class 5A state titles in the 100 and the 200 frees, and was on the state-champion 200 medley-relay and 200 free-relay teams.

Earlier she had won the event at the world championships and had scored the most points in the seven-event World Cup, making her the most decorated U.S. skier this season.

Track and Field Modibo, a freshman at Clemson, won the 400 meters (46.11) and was a member of the victorious 4 x 400 relay team (3:07.80) at the NCAA indoor championships. He had the fastest indoor time among college runners this season in the 400 (46.00).

Softball Voak, a freshman pitcher for Arizona State, threw back-to-back no-hitters at the National Invitational Softball Tournament, defeating Loyola Marymount 17-0 and Arkansas 5-0. She allowed only one earned run in 27 1/3 innings at the tournament.
COLOR PHOTO: JACK HANSON PHOTO Blu Wahle, Underwood, Iowa Wrestling Blu, a senior at Underwood High, won a state championship for the second consecutive year by beating Jacob Feuerbach of Belle Plaine High 3-1 in the title bout of the 160-pound class. He finished his four-year career with the state record for wins (187).

Basketball Chris, a senior point guard for Shamokin High, who will play for Bucknell, scored his 2,000th career point en route to getting 23 in an 81-51 defeat of Warrior Run High. He also had 1,060 assists in his career and led the Indians to three District 4 championships and a 107-15 record.
