Kacie Flinn, FENTON, MO.
Softball
Kacie, a senior pitcher at Rockwood Summit High, went 22-2 this
year (softball is a fall sport in Missouri high schools) while
striking out 334 hitters and walking 12 in 164 1/3 innings.
Kacie, who has committed to play at Bradley in the fall, had a
0.38 earned run average.

Thomas Dalton, SCHENECTADY, N.Y.
Cross-country
Dalton, 42, an executive at a state education agency, was named
USA Track and Field's masters cross-country runner of the year,
after winning three national titles (two individual and one
team) in a one-week span. He'd never before won a national
championship.

Christina Swindle, MIAMI
Swimming
Christina, a sophomore at Gulliver Preparatory, set national
high school records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles (22.62
and 49.33, respectively) at the state meet. The mark in the 50
had been held by Olympic gold medalist Dara Torres.

Liz Beggs, OLATHE, KANS.
Basketball
Beggs, a senior forward at Kent State, tied NCAA women's records
for consecutive free throws and free throw percentage in a game
by shooting 20 of 20 from the line--all in the second half--en
route to scoring 24 points during a 92-78 win over St.
Bonaventure.

Danielle Rollins, SACRAMENTO
Football
Rollins, a 230-pound senior linebacker at the University of
Arkansas-Monticello, was named Gulf South Conference defensive
player of the year after leading the league with 13.7 tackles per
game. He helped the Boll Weevils to their best record (8-3) since
joining the conference in 1995.

Dan Gilmore, MULLICA HILL, N.J.
Soccer
Gilmore, 48, the men's coach at Rowan University in Glassboro,
finished his 25th season with 403 wins, placing him fourth on
the alltime win list for Division III coaches in his sport. He
led the Profs to the national championship final before falling
to Messiah College of Grantham, Pa.
