Do the Math
Here's all you need to know about Mark Calcavecchia's third W in
Phoenix: 60, 256, 28, 32.

Pretty as a Picture
Grace Park says she aged 10 years taming the Blue Monster. You
be the judge.

No Surprise
All Jack Nicklaus had to do to win the Skins was lose, and he
has never been good at that.

Second Nature
Justin Rose makes it two in a row, runner-up finishes that is,
at the South African Open.

PGA Calcavecchia's eight-shot win over Rocco Mediate at the TPC
of Scottsdale was the largest margin of victory since Tiger
Woods's 11-stroke runaway at the NEC Invitational in August...
Calcavecchia had an 11-under 60 in the second round, and over
the 72 holes broke Mike Souchak's Tour record of 257, tied John
Huston's mark of 28 under and established a record by making 32
birdies...Sorry, MJ, Woods will play with longtime bud Jerry
Chang, who is attending business school at UCLA, for a second
straight year at this week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

LPGA Park's six-under 280 at the Office Depot in Miami was one
better than Karrie Webb's total. Park, 21, had won twice before
at Doral, at the 1995 and '96 Doral Publix Junior
championships...Aree Wongluekiet, 14, will play in the Nabisco
Championship (March 22-25) for a second consecutive year. She
tied for 10th in 2000.

SENIOR Nicklaus, who was leading with 10 skins and $260,000,
could've won the Senior Skins Game at Wailea Golf Club on Maui,
Hawaii, by missing a four-footer for a halve with skinless Gary
Player on the 18th hole. Instead, he made the putt, then lost
the playoff for the final three skins to Hale Irwin, who wound
up with $320,000.

ALSO Rose, 20, was denied his first pro win for a second
straight week when Mark McNulty sank a 10-foot birdie putt on
the final hole at East London Country Club...David Smail of New
Zealand won for the second time in seven days on the
Australasian tour, edging '99 U.S. Amateur champ David Gossett
by a shot in the Canon Challenge in Sydney.
