Robert Joseph, PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI
Basketball
Joseph, a 6'7" senior forward at Union University in Jackson,
Tenn., had eight blocks in a 65-51 win over cross-town rival
Lambuth College to break the college record for blocks in a
season with 229. He has swatted away 10 or more shots eight times
this season.

Whitney Myers, OXFORD, OHIO
Swimming
Whitney, a junior at Ursuline Academy in Cincinnati, set four
state girls' records in winning the Division I Ohio crowns in the
200-yard freestyle in 1:47.19 and the 100 butterfly in 54.08. The
200 and 500 freestyle champ as a sophomore and freshman, she has
led the Lions to three girls' state team titles.

Michelle Tyree, BRENTWOOD, TENN.
Softball
Tyree, a junior shortstop at Georgia, set an SEC record with
seven RBIs in an 11-0 win over East Tennessee in the Bulldog
Classic. She hit .625 with two doubles, two triples, four homers
and 18 RBIs in six games to lead the Bulldogs, who are 25-2
through Sunday, to the tournament title.

Shawn Nakamura, CAMARILLO, CALIF.
Field Hockey
Nakamura, 23, was named national men's player of the year for the
second time. His two defensive saves in the first game of the
World Cup Qualifying Tournament helped preserve a 1-0 win over
Russia and gave the U.S. its first victory in major men's world
play since 1996.

Jim Miller, CEDAR FALLS, IOWA
Wrestling
Miller, 47, guided Wartburg College to its 10th-straight Iowa
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship. A three-time
Division III Coach of the Year, he now has a dual meet record of
177-24-1 with the Knights, including 66 straight wins in the
conference.

Bernardo Samper, BOGOTA, COLOMBIA
Squash
Samper, a freshman at Trinity College in Hartford, defeated Will
Evans of Princeton 4-9, 9-2, 9-4, 9-5 to win the national
collegiate singles crown. Samper went 19-0 this season while
leading the Bantams to the national championship for the fourth
straight year.
