Bill Minahan, TAMPA
Badminton
Minahan, 73, won his fourth consecutive gold medal in the
60-plus age group at the U.S. Transplant Games, which are held
every two years. Minahan, a former high school football coach,
received a kidney transplant in 1986.

Ryan Moore, PUYALLUP, WASH.
Golf
Moore, a UNLV sophomore, won the U.S. Amateur Public Links
Championship in Washington, Mich., defeating Lee Williamson of
Crawfordsville, Ind. His 10-and-9 win in the 36-hole match play
final was the largest margin of victory in 17 years.

Kim Castellanos, ESCONDIDO, CALIF.
Soccer
Castellanos, 19, won the Golden Boot award with six goals in four
games as she led the San Diego Surf White team to an under-19
Girls title at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships.
Castellanos, a forward, also plays for San Diego State.

Todd Meneely, OMAHA
Wrestling
Meneely, 19, won the 135-pound freestyle and Greco-Roman titles
at the Junior National Championships. In the freestyle final he
defeated Teyon Ware, who had won that title the past two years;
in Greco-Roman he was named the event's outstanding wrestler.

Matt Emmons, BROWNS MILLS, N.J.
Shooting
Emmons, 21, won the prone rifle title at the World Shooting
Championships in Lahti, Finland. Earlier this summer he won the
three-position rifle event at the World Cup in Atlanta, earning
the U.S. team a spot in the event at the 2004 Olympics.

Michael Rohde, BROOKFIELD, WIS.
Baseball
Michael, a senior shortstop at Brookfield Central High, hit .545,
including .609 in conference play, to become Wisconsin's player
of the year for the summer season. He hit .445 over his high
school career and made the all-conference team in all four years.

Sean Rash, ANCHORAGE
Bowling
Rash, a junior at Wichita State, won the USA Junior Gold National
Bowling Championships in Winter Haven, Fla., besting 705 other
competitors. The second-seeded Rash defeated top seed and
defending champion Mike Remaklus of Florissant, Mo., in the
final.
