Tiger Woods's victory at the Buick Open was his 33rd on the PGA
Tour. He ranks 12th in career wins, one behind Tom Watson....
British Open winner Karrie Webb, at 27 years, seven months and 21
days, is the second youngest player in LPGA history to win six
majors, trailing Mickey Wright, who was 26 years, four months and
17 days when she won the sixth of her 13 titles.Webb played the
last 35 holes at Turnberry in nine under, without a bogey....
Hale Irwin was nearly perfect in winning the Senior tour's 3M
Championship, at Minnesota's TPC of the Twin Cities, making a
single bogey in 54 holes.... At the Wales Open, at the Celtic
Manor Resort in Newport, former British Open champ Paul Lawrie
won for the fifth time on the European tour by making 21 birdies
and an eagle despite heavy rains that forced a 36-hole Sunday.
