With his victory at the Disney, Bob Burns extended a PGA Tour
record by becoming the 16th first-time winner in 2002; the 14
first-time winners on the European tour this year are also an
alltime high.... It took a score of six under par to make the
36-hole cut at the Disney, a record low for a Tour event....
Ernie Els won his fourth World Match Play title by beating Colin
Montgomerie (6 and 5), Vijay Singh (3 and 2) and, finally, Sergio
Garcia (2 and 1). Els was 27 under for the 100 holes he played at
the Wentworth Club, outside London.... Dana Quigley, playing his
record 200th consecutive Senior tour event, won the SBC
Championship, his second title of the year and the seventh of his
career.... China's Zhang Lian-Wei successfully defended his Macau
Open crown by beating Nick Price on the fifth hole of a
sudden-death playoff.
