In The Crease

When teams talk trade with the Rangers, the player they often ask
for is defenseman Dale Purinton, formerly a one-dimensional
pugilist who has greatly improved his all-around game. Part of
the reason Canadiens netminder Jeff Hackett was not dealt to New
York after Mike Richter suffered a season-ending concussion was
Montreal's insistence that Purinton be part of the package....
With Buffalo's ownership in flux and commissioner Gary Bettman
stating that the team may be moved after the season, many Sabres
are asking their agents to arrange trades.... In his first three
NHL games the Stars' trash-talking rookie Steve Ott got under the
skin of the Wings' Chris Chelios and the Devils' Scott Stevens.
Expect the gritty Ott to become a valuable role player for
Dallas.
