Shelley Stanton, LINDEN, MICH.
Volleyball
Stanton, 32, returned to college after a 10-year absence and, as
an outside hitter, led Madonna University in every offensive
category; her 1,521 attacks, including 880 kills, were the third
most in Crusaders history. She was named a first-team NAIA
All-America.

Justin Haddix, JACKSON, KY.
Football
Justin, a senior quarterback at Breathitt County High, set a
state record for touchdowns in a season with 58 as he led the
Bobcats to a state 2A championship. The previous record of 57 was
set in 1994 by Chris Redman, now with the Baltimore Ravens.

Jared Cordes, MADISON, WIS.
Cross-country
Cordes, 25, won his second consecutive individual men's title at
the USA Track and Field Club Cross Championships in Rocklin,
Calif. He finished the 10-km race in 31:26, becoming the first
runner to successfully defend his title at that event.

Kate LaMoreaux, BURDETT, N.Y.
Swimming
LaMoreaux, 53, has coached the Watkins Glen High girls' team to
109 consecutive victories in dual meets, a streak that goes back
to the middle of the 1994 season. The team has won league and
sectional titles every year since 1995.

Aaron Goldman, LOS ALAMOS, N.MEX.
Ultramarathon
Goldman, 70, ran for 151 miles, 633 yards in 48 hours at the
Ultracentric 24 & 48-Hour Run in Addison, Texas. He set a U.S.
record for the 70--74 age group by more than nine miles and
finished fifth out of 13 competitors overall.

Mike Wohl, NORTHAMPTON, MASS.
Soccer
Mike, a senior forward at Northampton High, scored all of his
team's nine goals in the final four games of the season,
including a 2--1 overtime loss in the state Division II finals.
He was named all-state for his two varsity seasons.

Adam Craig, EAST CORINTH, MAINE
Cycling
Craig, 21, won the under-23 title at the Shimano-USCF National
Cyclocross Championships in Yountville, Calif. His time of 45:54
put him 26 seconds ahead of Barry Wicks of Corvallis, Ore. This
is the second straight year Craig has won the title.
