Jennifer Mendenhall, MEDFORD, ORE.
Softball

Jennifer, a sophomore righthander for the South Medford High
Panthers, threw a perfect game against the state's No. 1-rated
North Medford High, striking out six. She is 6-0 with an ERA of
0.41 and has allowed no earned runs in league play.

Wayne Dickinson, SOMERSET, MASS.
Judo

Dickinson, 39, a logistician at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center
in Newport, R.I., successfully defended his title in the 35-39,
198-pound division at the National Judo Championships in Las
Vegas. This is his third consecutive title and fifth overall.

Brandy Andersen, CULLOWHEE, N.C.
Golf

Andersen, a freshman at Western Carolina, led the Catamounts to
their first Southern Women's Championship. The only golfer to
shoot par or better in each of the three rounds, she finished
with a school record 212 and was named Conference Freshman of the
Year.

Erwin Jaskulski, HONOLULU
Track and Field

Jaskulski, 100, a retired comptroller for Honolulu's Channel 2,
ran the 400 meters in 3:40.79 to set a world age-group (100-104)
record. He also set world age-group records at 100 meters (36.49)
and 200 meters (1:27.85) last November.

Candace Parker, NAPERVILLE, ILL.
Basketball

Candace, a junior forward at Naperville Central High, led the
Lady Redhawks to a 35-0 record and the Class AA championship. She
set a tournament record for points with 92 in three games and has
been named Illinois's Ms. Basketball for the past two years.

Josh Hamilton, AUSTIN
Baseball

Hamilton, a junior first baseman at St. Edward's University, set
a NCAA Division II single-game record for home runs with five and
tied another record with 20 total bases. He has been named
Heartland Conference Player of the Week three times this season.

Ariana Canova, SEBASTOPOL, CALIF.
Rowing

Canova, a junior stroke at California, helped the Bears come from
behind to defeat the defending national champion Washington
Huskies and win the Jessop-Whittier Cup by .08 of a second. The
varsity eight is currently ranked No. 2 in the country.
