The Week In Television

May 18, 2003

MAY 16-22

SATURDAY 5/17 > FOX 1 PM > Cubs at Cardinals or Angels at Red Sox

Fox's weekly baseball coverage kicks off with a chess match
between two of the NL's canniest managers, Chicago's Dusty Baker
and St. Louis's Tony La Russa. In the AL, Boston's bullpen by
committee goes against the rally-happy champs.

SATURDAY 5/17 > ABC 3 PM > Senators at Devils, Game 4

It's the first time in the six years of the current playoff
format that the No. 1 (Ottawa) and No. 2 (New Jersey) seeds have
advanced to the Eastern Conference finals. Can New Jersey's
world-class goalie, Martin Brodeur, stop Ottawa's dynamic
offense?

DON'T MISS

SATURDAY 5/17 > ESPN 5 PM

Adidas Oregon Track Classic
With Marion Jones out of the race and on a maternity track, the
women's 100 is up for grabs between Jamaica's Tayna Lawrence
(left) and the Bahamas' Debbie Ferguson (right). The men's 100
features Maurice Greene.

SATURDAY 5/17 > NBC 5 PM > The Preakness Stakes

No gelding has won the first two legs of the Triple Crown, so if
the New York-bred Funny Cide can prevail in a small field, he'll
be one studly horse.

SUNDAY 5/18 > THE GOLF CHANNEL 7 AM > European PGA Deutsche
Bank-SAP Open

Achtung, golfers. After finishing tied for 15th at the Masters,
Tiger Woods returns to the links at the Gut Kaden Golf and Land
Club outside Hamburg. Last year he beat Colin Montgomerie in a
playoff to win the tournament.

WEDNESDAY 5/21 > HBO 10 PM > Legendary Nights: The Tale of
Lewis-Tyson

A close look at the winding roads that led Lennox Lewis and Mike
Tyson to their over-35 heavyweight showdown in Memphis last June.
