Christian Cantwell, ELDON, MO.
Track and Field
Cantwell, a recent graduate of the University of Missouri, won
the gold medal when he put the shot 68'8" at the International
Amateur Athletic Federation's World Final in Monte Carlo. The win
placed him fourth in the world rankings.

Lesley Boczar, HOLLYWOOD, FLA.
Bowling
Boczar, 38, a comptroller, rolled a lefthanded 300 game to become
the first Women's International Bowling Congress member to bowl
perfect games with each hand. Nerve damage to her right hand
forced her to become a southpaw after her 300 game in 1997.

Alex Ashley, CHARLESTON, W.VA.
Football
Alex, a junior placekicker at Capital High, set a state record by
kicking five field goals in five attempts in a 38-15 win over
Riverside High. He also converted three extra points, thus
personally outscoring the Warriors by three points.

Sarah Levine, POMPTON PLAINS, N.J.
Field Hockey
Levine, a senior forward at Montclair State, scored three times,
including the game-winner, to give the Red Hawks a 4-3
double-overtime upset over The College of New Jersey. She was
named New Jersey Athletic Conference player of the week.

Nick Casal, NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.
Boxing
Nick, 17, won the 152-pound title at the Fran Jones Under-19
National Championships in Alexandria, La. He is ranked seventh in
the nation in the men's open division and will compete with the
USA Elite team in Sweden this October.

Kristina Harrison-Naness, BURBANK, CALIF.
Equestrian
Harrison-Naness, 32, a horse trainer, helped lead the U.S.
equestrian team to the gold medal in dressage at the Pan American
Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She was the overall
Intermediary I dressage champion at the qualifying trials.

Forrest Saylor, GARDEN CITY, MICH.
Senior Softball
Saylor, 78, owner of an auto parts store, pitched a perfect game
in the North American Senior Circuit Softball National World
Series. He had a 52-8 season record and is a member of the
National Senior Softball Hall of Fame.
