Playing for the 1967 NFL title in temperatures so severe
(windchill: -46°) that one elderly fan died from exposure, the
Packers beat the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 on quarterback Bart Starr's
one-yard TD plunge with 13 seconds left. The Ice Bowl victory
gave Green Bay its third straight league championship, the NFL a
signature moment and the sports vocabulary a new phrase: frozen
tundra.
