Greatest Moment

February 02, 2004

Before he rumbled in the jungle or thrilled 'em in Manila,
Muhammad Ali came to Lewiston in 1965 to give Sonny Liston a
rematch for the heavyweight title he'd taken from Liston 15
months earlier. In front of 2,434 in a converted high school
hockey rink, Ali dropped Liston with the so-called phantom punch;
Neil Leifer's photo of the KO (above) is one of the most
memorable images in sports.
