Step right up and play along with sports fans who have been
seeing some not-so-subtle changes in girth lately. John Daly is
bigger (and maybe better) than ever, Maurice Clarett carried
extra pounds (but not the ball) at the NFL scouting combine,
Astros slugger Jeff Bagwell has done some serious slimming, while
the Yankees' Jason Giambi doesn't appear to be half the man he
used to be.
After swelling to a Kringle-esque 282 pounds last Christmas, Daly
is down to 238--still 18 more than in '99.
There's Mo' Mo: He played at a chunky 230, but the 5'11" tailback
ballooned to 242 during his season in exile.
Saying he "just can't do the heavy lifting" anymore, the
35-year-old first baseman is down from 220 to 208.

The slugger who was listed at 235 last year says cutting down on
fast food helped him shed, um, "four pounds."
