The Seed Report

As the major conference tournaments gear up, we turn over our
final recommendations to the real Selection Committee. Our four
No. 1 seeds were nearly unanimous, but should any of them falter
in their tournaments, there are several other teams quite ready
to step up and take their place.

Watch out for Gerald Fitch (above) and Kentucky, winner of nine
of its last 10, and Big 12 champ Oklahoma State; each could make
the case for a No. 1 seed by winning its tournament. Big Ten
champion Illinois and Georgia Tech could also improve their
positions with strong showings this week.
