49 The Golf Plus Decade
From niche sport to mainstream in 10 years' time

At its genesis in 1994, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED GOLF PLUS had only one
writer and its editor had just given birth to twins. But the labor
pains from that very exciting time quickly receded in memory as our
creation grew, almost overnight, into an important player in the
world of golf. Over the past 10 years the response to GOLF PLUS by
readers, players, fans and, yes, advertisers has been overwhelming.
This special anniversary edition--the first of four stand-alone
issues of GOLF PLUS this year--was created to celebrate our first
decade. --James P. Herre
