Perfect Bond Randy Johnson's perfect game on May 18 against the
Braves did more than make the 40-year-old lefty the oldest man to
perform a pitcher's greatest feat. It also made Diamondbacks
play-by-play guy Thom Brennaman, 40, and Reds announcer Marty
Brennaman, 63, the first father and son to each call a perfect
game. Marty called Reds lefthander Tom Browning's perfecto
against the Dodgers on Sept. 16, 1988. "When we spoke after
[Johnson's game], Thom said, 'There's no one else I can talk to
who has experienced this,'" says Marty. "Guys outside our
business don't understand the emotion we go through when
someone's on the verge of something like that." ... Tony
Kornheiser and Mark Cuban will go head-to-head on Mondays this
fall. Listen Up, a sitcom based on columns about family life
written for The Washington Post by Kornheiser, will air on CBS at
8:30 p.m. (Jason Alexander stars.) The Benefactor, an hourlong
reality show in which contestants try to win $1 million from
Cuban, will air on ABC at 8 p.m, as a lead-in to Monday Night
Football.
