Bill Walton had good cause to hurl his Portland jersey into the
Memorial Coliseum stands. His 1976-77 Blazers had rebounded from
a 2-0 series deficit against Julius Erving's Philadelphia 76ers
to win their only NBA title, capping the comeback with a dramatic
Game 6 victory on their home court. The Blazers looked even
better the next season before Walton went down with a
debilitating foot injury.
