Ashley Owens, COLORADO SPRINGS
Track and Field
Owens, a June graduate of Liberty High, won gold medals in the 100 meters and 4√ó100-meter relay at the IAAF World Junior Championships. She is the top-ranked high school sprinter in the U.S. and a four-time Class 4A winner in the 100 and 200 meters.
Joan Comisar, CINCINNATI

Comisar, 73, the former Ohio women‚Äôs champion and five-time seniors‚Äô champ, won her 46th club championship at the Kenwood Country Club. She is the current Ohio super-senior (age 70 and up) champion and a 10-time Greater Cincinnati senior champ.
Angela Tincher, BUCHANAN, VA.
Tincher, a June graduate of James River High, pitched a state-record 17 straight shutouts as she led the Knights to their second Group A title. She ended the season with a 22‚Äì2 record, 365 strikeouts and a 0.13 ERA. The righthander will attend Virginia Tech in the fall.
Danny Gleeson, RALEIGH
Danny, 8, a fourth-grader at Wakefield Elementary, won the 8to-10-year-old division of the TPC at Wakefield Plantation Junior Club Championship. This was his fourth straight title. His three previous wins were in the 7-and-under division.
Liza Wischer, GRAND FORKS, N.DAK.
Liza, a sophomore at Red River High, didn‚Äôt lose a set in the individual tournament as she won the singles title at the North Dakota State Girls Tennis Tournament for the third straight year. She was 26‚Äì0 for the season and led the Roughriders to a 14‚Äì0 record.
Devin Timpson, OCEAN SHORES, WASH.
Track and Field
Devin, a senior at North Beach High, won the 100, 200 and 400 meters and placed fourth in the triple jump at the state 1A track and field championships. In May he won four events at the Southwest Washington Classic and was named the meet‚Äôs top performer.
Arthur B. Powers, BERLIN, CONN.
Powers, 76, an insurance executive, retired after 53 years as a collegiate wrestling official. He was named Man of the Year by the New England College Conference Wrestling Association and is a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
