Kildow Feels Heat Of the Spotlight

Lindsey Kildow, who in recent weeks had raced like the emerging star of the U.S. women's team and been the subject of a sudden wave of media profiles, finished a disappointing ninth in Sunday's Super G. "I'm O.K., I'm just really sad," Kildow, 20, said later, having finished what she admitted was a long cry in her hotel room. "To have so many expectations ... but that's ski racing. All the media attention, I'm not used to it. But I have to learn to deal with it. I have to analyze what I did wrong [in my race] and what I did wrong in my head and try to change it." That will take time. Kildow, who was scheduled to race at least three more events in Bormio, crashed on Monday morning in the first of three downhill training runs. She was not seriously injured, but the fall can't help her bruised confidence.... The bib sponsor for the men's races at the worlds--whose name is featured prominently on the front and back of every skier--is, a Europe-based gambling website that is accepting wagers on the competition.
