Good for Jerry Rice. The NFL's career reception leader, Rice, 42, agreed last week to a one-year deal with the Broncos. Critics say that Rice, the former 49ers great who played most of last year for the Seahawks (25 catches) and three-plus seasons with the Raiders (243 receptions), is tarnishing his legacy by competing for a backup spot. But his attempt to keep playing only shows his enduring love for football and ought to be applauded. Let the market, and Rice, decide when he's through.
