ON WHAT THE LEADER OF THE U.S. NATIONAL TEAM (PAGE 70) LOVES ABOUT L.A. AND MISSED WHILE PLAYING IN GERMANY FROM JANUARY TO MARCH
In-N-Out Burger! Mexican food! Asian food! The beach! The sun! The women!

ON MEETING CELEBS
I shared a private plane from Birmingham to L.A. with Drew Carey. He's a Galaxy season-ticket holder. I watch Whose Line Is It Anyway? all the time. There was a lot I wanted to ask him about TV, but he probably doesn't want to talk about that, so I didn't.

ON THE FIVE-BEDROOM HOUSE HE SHARES WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND, ACTRESS BIANCA KAJLICH (INSET), IN MANHATTAN BEACH
The great thing about Manhattan Beach is that you can walk into town and you know these people are multimillionaires, but they're just walking around in sandals. Nobody cares what you do for a living. When I'm not training, I'm just hanging out with Bianca and our three dogs.

ON BEING A DODGERS FAN
I'm a half-season ticket holder, and I've probably been to 12 games this year. Baseball is such a weird sport. I can't imagine having to be focused and prepared to play every day. That must drain those guys so much, which is why you respect the teams that do really well.

ON THE POSSIBILITY OF SURPASSING ERIC WYNALDA'S NATIONAL TEAM RECORD OF 34 GOALS (HE HAS 25)
It would be nice, but I honestly hadn't thought about it until someone showed me the list. --As told to Grant Wahl

"My body's made so that it can take this kind of stuff."
