Markish, a junior at Broome High, won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes andthe long jump at the South Carolina High School 2A track and fieldchampionships, leading the Centurions to their second straight state title. Heis the first athlete since 1988 to win four individual events at the statemeet.

De Biase, a senior at Rollins College, sank birdie putts on the 17th and 18thholes to come from one stroke behind and win her first individual championship,at the 2006 Division II Women's Golf National Championships. Her victory helpedthe Lady Tars take their fourth consecutive team title.

Kulbacki, a sophomore outfielder at James Madison, led the Dukes to theColonial Athletic Association title. In the regular season his 24 homers toppedDivision I, and he batted .464 with 1.27 RBIs per game. He is in the runningfor the Dick Howser Trophy, given to the best player in college baseball, andCSTV's college baseball player of the year.
POINT LOMA, CALIF. > Water Polo
Rulon, a junior driver at UCLA, scored four goals and set up the game-winner inthe 9--8 victory over USC that gave the Bruins their second consecutivenational title and fourth overall. She set an NCAA tournament record by scoring11 goals in the three games and was named the tournament's most valuableplayer.

Boe-Wiegaard, a senior at Bates College, defeated Brian Waldron of MiddleburyCollege 6--4, 6--3 to win the NCAA Division III men's singles championship. Thefour-time All-America was unseeded in the 32-player field but defeated the No.1, No. 2 and No. 8 seeds on his way to the title.

Acone, a senior midfielder at Stonehill College, scored 61 goals and had 39assists for the Skyhawks, becoming the eighth player ever in NCAA Division IIto pass 300 points. She is the second player in the history of the Northeast-10Conference to be named women's lacrosse player of the year for three straightseasons.
