The Questions With Freddy Sanchez

Pirates Infielder
October 08, 2006

What was yourwelcome-to-the- big-leagues moment?

In Boston with the Red Sox in 2003, I came within one assist of tying a majorleague record for third basemen [11]. The whole crowd chanted my name. I didn'tget a hit, but I had 35,000 Fenway fans going nuts.

Your mostembarrassing moment?

This year against the Nationals, I ran to first on ball three when I thought itwas ball four. I get down there and everyone's looking at me. The umpire'slike, um, you gotta go back.

Favorite off-dayactivity?

Hanging out with my wife, Alissa, and baby, Evan. And watching TV. Judge Judyis awesome--she's very entertaining, and she puts people in their place.

If I weren'tplaying baseball, I'd be
... finishing school. I'm a few courses short of a communications degree atOklahoma City.

If I werecommissioner for a day, I would
... raise the pay for minor league players.
