'Do or Die
Despite losing his helmet in the midst of a burst through the Eagles' defense, Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey fought on for extra yardage on Sunday at the Linc. Shockey's headstrong play only temporarily rallied New York, which fell 23--20 in an NFC wild-card game (page 50).

Horse Collared
Colts linemen Robert Mathis (98) and Bo Schobel put the squeeze on Chiefs quarterback Trent Green last Saturday, causing him to fumble during the fourth quarter of Indianapolis's 23--8 AFC wild-card win at the RCA Dome (page 56). With two sacks, end Dwight Freeney (inset) helped the much-maligned Indy D hold Kansas City to 126 yards.

Good till the Last Drop
Distraught after botching the hold on a 19-yard field goal attempt (inset) with 1:19 to play, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was consoled by center Al Johnson last Saturday night at Qwest Field. Romo did pick up the ball and try to get a first down, but he was tackled less than a yard short. The play enabled the Seahawks to escape with a 21--20 win in the NFC wild-card game (page 52).
