Q&A Clyde Drexler

The ex-NBA star will compete on ABC's Dancing with the Stars
March 18, 2007

SI: Someone called the Glide should be a good dancer, right?

Drexler: You'd like to think so. I'm going to have to work hard to retain my nickname.

SI: Your dance experience?

Drexler: There's been none. And being 6'7" with big feet doesn't help. But so far in rehearsals I've only fallen twice.

SI: Do you practice much?

Drexler: An hour-and-a-half to two hours, six days a week.

SI: You're a broadcaster for the Rockets. Do you get a hard time in NBA circles?

Drexler: I get, "I didn't know you danced, Twinkle Toes." Certainly I would do the same to them.

SI: Why do athletes do well on the show?

Drexler: If you're a real athlete, not a golfer or a baseball pitcher, you have pretty good footwork. Footwork is everything in dancing.

SI: So how will you do?

Drexler: I hope I don't fall a lot. If I do, I hope I don't break a leg.
