Taking the Fifth
Roger Federer (near court) returned serve on his way to defeating Rafael Nadal in five sets on Sunday for a record-tying fifth straight Wimbledon singles title. Venus Williams (inset) easily beat Marion Bartoli for her fourth women's championship (page 60).

Spokesmen
On the Mall in London on Sunday, Prologue winner Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland (in yellow, bottom right) led the pack at the start of stage 1 of the Tour de France. The race started in England for the first time in its 104-year history; Robbie McEwen of Australia won the stage.

Heisman Redux
The inaugural fund-raiser for the Heisman Winners Association Foundation drew 21 recipients (16 pictured here) spanning 47 years to a resort in Austin in late June.
