Leading Off

Dummied Down
Defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, the 20-year-old first-round pick out of Louisville, blasted through a pair of blocking dummies at the Texans' training facility in Houston on Sunday. His new linemate Mario Williams (inset) cooled down as camps heated up across the NFL (page 58).

Hornery
Travis Muir of Pierce, Colo., fought to keep his grip and his footing in the slop during the steer wrestling competition at a Frontier Days celebration last Saturday in Cheyenne, Wyo. Muddied but unbroken was Clint Knutson (inset).

Iraq and Roll
Waving his captain's armband, Younis Mahmoud (10) celebrated the greatest soccer triumph in his nation's history on Sunday, a 1--0 victory over Saudi Arabia in the Asian Cup final in Jakarta, Indonesia. Mahmoud's 71st-minute goal won a match that held fans in Baghdad spellbound (inset) and, momentarily, unified the war-torn country (page 25).
