Wyatt, of Mounds View High, is the first eighth-grade boy in the 79-yearhistory of Minnesota's state tournament to win the high school singles title.He defeated the state champ, Buffalo High junior Michael Sicora, in thesemifinal, then beat Blaine junior Paul Swanson to win gold in Class 2A.

Griffin, a graduate of Kellam High, was a first-team all-state catcher anddelivered the game-winning hits in both the Eastern Region and the Group AAAchampionship games. In the AAA final her clutch single led the Knights to a1--0 victory and their first state title. She will play at Morgan State nextyear.

Mann, a graduate of Berkeley, won the Peter J. Cutino Award as the country'sbest male collegiate water polo player. A three-time first-team All-America anda member of the U.S. national team, the utility player scored 80 goals to leadthe Bears to their NCAA-record 12th national championship.

Carrier, a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High, is the highest-scoring femaleever at the West Virginia state meet, with 148 points. This spring, for thesecond straight year, she won gold in four events: the 100-meter hurdles, the300 hurdles, the 200 meters and the long jump, in a state record of 18' 81/2".
