Despite a hard slide by first baseman Casey Kotchman, Mariners catcher Kenji Johjima held onto the ball and got the out at the plate in Anaheim last Saturday. The Angels lost 3--2, but they clinched the AL West title the following day with a 7--4 victory.

Body Work, Part 2
After starting in the pole position for the MotoGP Grand Prix of Japan in Motegi on Sunday, Honda rider Dani Pedrosa of Spain wiped out on Lap 15. Pedrosa suffered a left foot injury and was unable to continue.

Body Work, Part 3
Redskins running back Clinton Portis celebrated his one-yard, first-quarter touchdown run against the Giants on Sunday with a handstand in the end zone. Washington, wearing its retro home uniforms, blew a 17--3 lead to lose 24--17.
