Flying Low
Running back Laurence Maroney powered the Patriots to their fourth Super Bowl in seven years, lunging over Chargers safety Clinton Hart for extra yardage on Sunday in Foxborough, Mass. Maroney rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries in New England's 21--12 AFC Championship Game victory (page 30), helping to offset three interceptions by Tom Brady (inset).

Power to The Purple
Serena Williams made a strong return on Sunday during her 6--3, 6--4 fourth-round victory over Nicole Vaidisova in the Australian Open. Top-seeded Roger Federer (inset) also advanced to the quarterfinals in Melbourne.

Tito Totters
A roaring Roy Jones Jr. headed to his corner after knocking down Felix (Tito) Trinidad in the seventh round of their light heavyweight bout last Saturday at Madison Square Garden. Jones sent Trinidad to the mat again in the 10th (inset) and scored a unanimous 12-round decision.
