O'Connor, 23, defeated Emmanuel Taylor by a 9--7 decision to win the 141-pounddivision of the U.S. Future Stars National Championship. He won five bouts insix days, all by decision, for a combined 64--22 score and was named thetournament's most outstanding boxer. He is a 2008 Olympic alternate.

Schlecht, a 197-pound senior at Dickinson State who, as a South Dakota NationalGuard reserve, served 16 months in Iraq, won his third straight NAIAchampionship and was named National Wrestling Coaches Association NAIA wrestlerof the year. He had a 140--22 career record with 69 pins.
