Zavala, a Rutgers-bound graduate of Randolph High, batted .532 with 42 hits, 20steals and 36 RBIs. He had the Newark Star-Ledger's hitting performance of theyear: 5 for 5, with two home runs, four RBIs and five runs in a 13--6 win overSeton Hall Prep. The centerfielder was also the paper's player of the year in'07.

Schultz, a recent graduate of Cloudcroft High, repeated as the distance triplecrown winner by winning the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 at the Class 2A meet; her timein the 1,600 (5:10.13) is a state record. Her twin sister, Camille, was secondin all three races. The sisters will attend Oklahoma State this fall.

Tani, a senior forward this fall at Kalani High, is a two-time state scoringchamp. She had 12 goals in 2007 and 23 goals in '08, both tops among boys andgirls in Hawaii—even though she missed four games to play for the U.S. under-17national team.

Dowd, a junior this fall at Georgetown, scored three goals and had two assistsas the U.S. beat Canada 19--12 in the International Lacrosse Federation'sunder-19 World Cup final; he was named the tournament's most outstandingattackman. He was the Hoyas' No. 2 scorer in the spring with 14 goals and 23assists.

Waddey, a Virginia-bound graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy, won the statechampionship in the pole vault with a meet record 15'11". He placed fourthin Tennessee wrestling at 160 pounds and rushed for 1,025 yards to lead the BigRed to a 13--0 record and the Division II-AA football title.

Timko, a freshman at Robert Morris this fall, was a four-year all-stateshortstop for Chartiers-Houston High. For her career there she batted .522 with20 doubles, 21 triples, 32 home runs, 88 RBIs, 52 stolen bases, 143 runs and a.667 on-base percentage.
